Leslie,
ReplyDeleteHave you ever written a grant before? What happens if you do not get the grant or funds for this project? Also, how many students does this program reach out to? Are you using a small population first?
I think all of this is great and ambitious. I wish you all the best and look forward to watching the progress.
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI have written many grants, but if the team and I do not get a grant, I will ask administration who I can talk with about getting funding for the project. I know our PTA is always willing to help with projects that help our school be successful. We are actually using the whole school, but we decided to only work on behavior in the cafeteria, hallways and restroom. We are hoping to used the data on discipline referrals to see what changes we need to make, and if we are successful with this small plan we will move to the classroom and assemblies.
Thank you for your response.
I have made changes to my plan with my behavior team, now call the operational planning team, and site supervisor. We decided to start smaller, to help both students and teacher be successful. We made schoolwide expectations in the cafeteria, to include a point system and incentives, hallway expectations with signs posted for designated stopping places and restroom expectations to include classroom sign in and out logs. So far we are doing well with all of the expectations in the cafeteria and hallway, however the restroom behavior needs some work. The biggest reason has been that the students are leaving the toilets not flushed and the paper towels are not being thrown in the trashcans. I feel it is because our signs only state generic expectations and the students may need more direction.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a good plan for me to look at to help with this problem?
